But it seemed so cliche to head outside and take pictures of the greenery budding around me. I LOVE plants and gardening and outdoors - favorite smell - fresh cut grass - doesn't get much greener than that really! But I wanted to try and find something inside that gave me the same giddy feeling as the coming of the spring green. And frankly, I didn't really have time for an expedition into the great outdoors. Luckily I didn't have to look far. Marbles!! When Chris moved to the loft it was pretty colorless - white walls, grey floor, amazing grey couch. And although now the view from the incredible windows is really awesome with tons of color - flowering trees, green leaves, colorful buildings - when he moved in in January it was all pretty grey and bleak out the windows as well. So as a way of adding some color I bought him some clear containers from Ikea and we filled them with colorful marbles. He placed them around the living room and they are really cool. So marbles it is. I picked out some of the cool green ones and began the mission of taking a cool something green shot. I kind of like this picture - it isn't anything earth shattering or dramatic - but I like it with its subtle hints of green.
I have a very distinct childhood memory of a box of marbles that Brian and I either found or were given from Grandma & Grandpa Kimmet that I believe were my dad's. There were some really cool marbles in that box. I think we each had our favorites. I don't remember playing the traditional game of marbles, but I remember spending a great deal of time pawning over those marbles and loving how they were each different - some had small bubbles in them, some had the swoosh of color in the middle, some were completely opaque, some where the larger shooters - the only commonality about them was that they were round marbles. I thought they were beautiful. WIsh I had had the inspirtion to fill clear containers with those marbles back then rather than keeping them in that brown box because these silly marbles do make me rather happy...OK giddy really.
So Day 4 mission accomplished! May you too have a day that leads you to your giddy green happy place. I think that mine might eventually lead me to some yummy margaritas...they are green too you know! Just trying to keep with today's theme! =)
