Day 13 of the April Photography Challenge is "Wise Words". I'm a total sucker for quotes and inspirational sayings. I have an entire pinterest board filled with them and during this whole Coronavirus pandemic, I have been saving memes by the dozens each day. But these are a few that are in my house. I love the Family Rules one and the Eat Well, Travel Often has lived in my kitchen for the last several years. The wine signs are relative newcomers but I find joy in them when we are hanging out with family and friends, drinking wine and munching on snacks and pizza. Missing those in person happy hours and family dinners a lot right now as we all shelter in place and try and make do with Zoom and FaceTime.

Day 12 of the April Photography Challenge is "selfie"....it's funny when I go back to the challenge I did in 2012 both the first day and last day were selfies. I loath photos of myself. I've been trying to get less judgmental of myself and the weight I have accumulated over the years, but it seems like every time I see a new pic, I fall back into the hold habits of tearing myself apart. So I tend to avoid pics. I'd much rather be taking them. But the nice thing about a selfie is that you are in control - right? If I don't like it I can delete it. If I want to play around with filters to remove the dark circles under my eyes I can. So that is why I have posted the picture above. Thanks to a snapchat filter I was able to look like I had even skin tone and take the picture at an angle where my chin covers they other chins. My hair is dirty and hasn't really been brushed today and again by using the angle of the camera I can capture only what I want. So I don't hate these..thanks SnapChat! =)
Day 11 of the April photography challenge is "something sweet". Typically I would have taken pictures of loads of candy or cookies or ice-cream or some other sugary confection. And given that it was Easter weekend, those things are typically in abundance. But this year with Covid-19 rocking our worlds, we didn't really have a lot of sweet stuff around for Easter. So I went back into my phone from the weekend and found this picture that I LOVE of Bridgette, who is probably one of the sweetest dogs I've ever known. She is loved by everyone in our neighborhood - especially the kids. And she just hangs outside sporting her invisible fence color and hopping like the Easter Bunny for anyone that will look at her. Once someone is brave enough to venture into the yard (which surprisingly a lot of people do) she calms down and lavishes in the petting and cooing. She is ridiculously soft - and we have no idea how she stays as white as she does given how much time she spends laying in dirt, mud and mulch. But she is very sweet and very beloved.
Day 9 of the April Photography Challenge is "Throwback Thursday". I'm not big on the TBT or TOT (tongue out Tuesday) or WCW (Women crush Wednesday) that people tend to post on Instagram - but in the spirit of this photo challenge I'll play along. And it gives me the opportunity to post one of my favorite pictures of Jack. This was taken 10 years ago when we flew to Dallas to visit our friends the Darr's. We spent a long weekend there and Jack did not want to come home. He had a non stop playdate with some of his favorite people at the time, Maddie & her little sister Meghan. We had a blast and Jack loved the cowboy boots and hat that we bought on this trip and wore them every day until his little feet just couldn't fit into them any longer. The cowboy boots are one of the few pieces of clothing that I saved from when Jack was little. Such a fun trip!
Day 8 of the April photography challenge is "Favorite Fiction". I LOVE reading. I read every night before I go to sleep and love curling up with a good book on a rainy weekend - I know totally cliche - but I do. Hell, I'll curl up with a book even when it is a gorgeous day out.
I don't really have a favorite book from childhood or one that I return to every year because I adore it - I love finding new great novels to enjoy and share. I'm part of 2 book clubs and every September I spend a weekend in Lakeside Ohio where I hang out with a bunch of super cool ladies and I always get a ton of great recommendations during that weekend. Although my family will tell you that I'm a sucker for a Harry Potter marathon on t.v. - I really do turn to reading when I need to just shut down and escape. So any recommendations are welcome! Day 4 of the April photography challenge was "black & white". I LOVE black and white photography, but don't often love the photos I take once I edit them into black and white in Lightroom. However, this cool picture that I took while we were hiking on Sunday seemed like the perfect pic to convert. Jack found the skull on the side of the trail sitting on the log - so I am at least the 2nd person to photograph it since it looked very posed. But it was such a cool find. We think it is a opossum skull (or maybe a raccoon) because of the teeth and size. But thought a sort of eerie skull deserved a black and white treatment
